Syracuse Utah Temple

Syracuse Utah Temple

The Syracuse Utah Temple was my 70th temple

I attended the Syracuse Utah Temple for an endowment session in June of 2025, soon after it was dedicated on June 8, 2025.  It was announced on April 5, 2020 and took more than five years until it was finally opened.  The temple is located at 1098 W. 2500 S. in Syracuse, Utah.  Temple clothing is available for rent.  Temple housing is not available, but Syracuse is a large community and is very close to cities like Bountiful, Layton, and others.  There are plenty of places to stay and plenty of places to eat.  And it's not very far from Farmington's Lagoon amusement park if you want to ride some roller coasters after attending the temple.  The temple is approximately 20 minutes from the Bountiful Temple and 20 minutes from the Layton Temple.

I love the deep green color used in the furnishings of the temple, and the green outer edges of the stair cases.  My favorite thing about this temple is the artwork, specifically a painting in the marriage waiting room on the 3rd floor of Christ and the children in America.  It appears that there are clouds in the sky surrounding the scene, but when you look closer you realize that they are angels watching over the scene.  Also, some of the children in the painting appear to be looking right at you as you gaze at the painting.  There are a lot of other beautiful paintings in the temple, including another one of Christ just outside the marriage waiting room.

The temple is very skinny and tall.  While sitting in the Celestial Room, I realized that the ceiling may be quite a bit higher than many of the other temples I have been to.  There was one very disappointing aspect of this temple, however, and that is how few people were there when I visited.  I was in the 5 o'clock endowment session and there were, at most, 20 people in the session.  With the temple being open for less than a month, I was shocked that not more people in the area are flocking to the temple and keeping it busy to overflowing!  Sometimes it seems that those living in temple districts where their temple is less than a half hour away - sometimes only a few minutes away - take it for granted and don't attend as often as those of us who have to drive hours to reach a temple.  It is hard to get an appointment in our brand new Casper Wyoming Temple because the people of Wyoming are so excited to finally have a temple and are keeping the temple full in every session of every ordinance!  I hope that the session I attended in the Syracuse Temple was not the norm for that beautiful temple.  What a blessing to have this new house of the Lord in such a beautiful place with so many members of the Church living close by!

You can reach the temple by taking I-15 and exiting on the Clearfield exit, exit #334.  This is UT-193.  Follow this road for 3 1/2 miles.  Turn left on South 200 West.  Turn right onto West 700 South.  Turn left onto South 2500 West.  Turn right into the temple parking lot.
