Deseret Peak Utah Temple

 Deseret Peak Utah Temple

The Deseret Peak Utah Temple was my 68th Temple

In February of 2025 I attended the Deseret Peak Utah Temple in Tooele Utah.  It is located at 2400 North 400 West in Tooele, Utah, which is about 40 minutes away from downtown Salt Lake City.  It was dedicated in November of 2024.

This temple is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful temples in the world.  We arrived at sunset, and the skies reflecting off the windows created brilliant sparkles in the gems that adorn all of the windows in the temple.  The windows are definitely my favorite part of this temple!  But once we went inside, I also admired the deep, striking colors in all of the furnishings.  And the brides' room was exquisite, with multiple changing/preparation rooms in addition to the main large brides' room.  I also loved the artwork inside the temple.

The temple holds a prominent place in Tooele, being visible from many directions and standing much taller than all of the surrounding buildings.  As we drove closer to the temple, I remarked that someday there will probably be houses surrounding the temple and it may not be as visible as it currently is.  Because Tooele is rather "out of the way," I am sure the people living there are very grateful to have a temple close to home.

When visiting the temple, there are plenty of places to eat in Tooele.  We ate at Denny's, which was only an 8 minute drive from the temple.  But there are a lot of options of places to eat.  As far as sites to see in Tooele, the Bonneville Salt Flats are about an hour and a half drive from Tooele along I-80 towards Reno, and the Great Saltair is only about 20 minutes away.

Before visiting this temple, I believed that the Payson Utah Temple was the most beautiful temple in the world.  Now that I have seen the beauty of the Deseret Peak Utah Temple, I am torn and can't quite decide which one ranks higher in my eyes as far as beauty is concerned.

These photos do not do the windows justice.  They sparkled and shimmered as the light shone through them from inside, and reflected on them from the setting sun outside.
