Saint George Utah Temple

Saint George was my seventh temple. This photo was taken in 2024 after its recent renovation. |

My husband and I in 1995 soon after we were married |
The Saint George Temple is special to our family because our son Micah married his wife Jancy there. I first attended the Saint George Temple in 1995. It was my 7th temple. Micah & Jancy were married in 2017, and even though it was November it was warm and beautiful! I love how white this temple is - it definitely makes me think of purity. I also really love the baptistry in this temple. In 2019 we took our Ragnar team to the Saint George Temple a few days before it closed for renovations. It has still not re-opened. We performed baptisms for family names in the Saint George Temple on our way to run the Ragnar in Phoenix Arizona. I am excited to attend this temple again after it opens up from the remodel. It is located at 250 E 400 S. It was dedicated in 1877, and rededicated in 1975. It was again rededicated after extensive remodeling in December of 2023. The Red Cliffs Temple is less than five minutes away, also in Saint George.

Things To Do in Saint George
It is extremely hot in Saint George, so if you visit during the summer months, restrict your hiking to the early morning hours before the temperatures get too high.
Pioneer Park is a very fun place to explore and hike, even for little kids. There are two small arches there and a short narrows that you can hike through and climb in.
Elephant Arch is a five mile round-trip hike, and Babylon Arch is a three-mile round-trip hike. I haven't completed either of these, but plan to on my next trip to Saint George.
Zion's National Park is a must-see at some point in your life, although it is very crowded and hard to get into. On our most recent visits I have opted to hike elsewhere rather than battle the lines. You can hike the nearby Snow Canyon without having to go inside the park.
Where to Stay in Saint George
We stayed at the Desert Color Resort, which has its own large lagoon shared by the many rental homes surrounding it. It was for a family reunion, and each family helped pay for the high cost of staying there, but the house was very large and had its own pool and hot tub, in addition to the large lagoon. One down-side of the lagoon is that it closes whenever the weather looks threatening, and during our stay in June of 2024, it closed two of the three nights we were there because of potential lightning strikes. When it is open, though, it is a lot of fun and plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the water.
