Me and Ethan at the Idaho Falls Temple |
In 2004 I went on a roommate reunion to Idaho and went to all of the Idaho temples that had been dedicated at the time. That was the first time I went to the Idaho Falls Temple. I have been to this temple a couple times since then, including with my son Ethan in 2017 when he was preparing for his mission. I took him on a "temple tour" to several temples, including Idaho Falls. The Idaho Falls Temple was my 13th temple. My very favorite thing about the Idaho Falls Temple is definitely the beautiful water falls that are right by the temple! But I also really love that the endowment sessions include five rooms that you travel between, which makes it unique from most temples. The Idaho Falls Temple also has a fountain out in front that is exactly like the fountain at the San Antonio Texas Temple, that resembles a water fall. This temple is located at 1000 Memorial Drive in Idaho Falls. It was dedicated in 1945 and then re-dedicated in 2017.
My daughter Rebecca and I went on a temple tour to several temples, including the Idaho Falls Temple, in 2023. We went on an endowment session that happened to be a living endowment for two young men. I always especially enjoy the living endowment sessions because I imagine what the individual is thinking and feeling as they are receiving their endowment, and I remember my own endowment day. We stayed at the Tru by Hilton and had a room on the 4th floor with a beautiful view of the temple right outside our window. We turned off the lights before going to bed and looked out the window at the beautiful lit-up temple. Then fireworks started outside our window also! It turns out that at the end of the baseball game at Melaleuca Field they set off fireworks and we were just lucky to happen to be in town and with a spectacular view of them! For dinner we ate at the Bees Knees Pub & Catering only about a mile from our hotel and the food was great! The service was a bit slow, though, and we barely made it to our session just as the group was leaving the chapel! Also, we enjoyed a walk along the Riverwalk where we had a spectacular view of the Idaho Falls, as well as the Temple behind the falls. It is fun to walk the Riverwalk in both the daylight and at night. There is a little pull-out where you can get some great photos of the temple and the falls.
