Layton Utah Temple

 Layton Utah Temple

Layton Utah was my 60th Temple

The Layton Temple is located at 1400 Oak Hills Drive in Layton, Utah.  It can be seen from I-15.  This is a beautiful, very large temple.  It was dedicated in June of 2024.  The Layton Temple is less than an hour away from about a dozen other temples!  There are lots of places to eat nearby and fun things to do in the area, including Lagoon Amusement Park, which is less than fifteen minutes away.

Red Cliffs Utah Temple

 Red Cliffs Utah Temple

Red Cliffs Utah Temple was my 59th Temple

We had a family reunion in Saint George, Utah, and were lucky enough to be able to attend both the newly-reopened Saint George Temple, as well as the Red Cliffs Temple, which was my 59th Temple.  The temple is beautiful!  It is located at 1555 S. Red Cliffs Temple Lane in Saint George.  It was dedicated in March of 2024.  We visited in June of 2024.  I especially loved the artwork in the temple, but the landscaping on the grounds is amazing and beautiful!

View from Pioneer Park -- you can see the Red Cliffs Temple off in the distance.  You can also see the Saint George Temple from up there.

The reflecting pools are one of my very favorite things about the temple!

Things to Do in Saint George

Pioneer Park is a fun place to hike around and explore!  There are two small arches, as well as some short narrows to hike through.  You can see a beautiful view of Saint George from here.

You can hike Snow Canyon, which is a great alternative to Zion's National Park.  If you're able to get into Zion's, then take advantage of the opportunity!  Lately when I've visited Saint George the line to get into Zion's has been too long to make it tempting to me.

I haven't done this yet, but the next time I visit Saint George I plan to hike to Elephant Arch.  It is about a 5 mile round trip hike.  There is also an arch in nearby Hurricane, Utah called Babylon Arch that is about a 3 mile round-trip hike.

The Saint George Temple is less than 5 miles away from the Red Cliffs Temple, only a ten minute drive.  It was the third temple constructed by the Church, and the first in Utah.  It was recently re-opened after major renovations.

Where to Stay in Saint George

For our family reunion we rented a home at the Desert Color Resort, which has its own giant lagoon shared by all of the surrounding homes.  It is definitely a luxury resort, and quite pricey, so I'm sure there are much more affordable places to stay in Saint George.  We had each of our family members helping pay for the cost of the rental home, so it was actually pretty reasonable once it was divided between us.
